It would be helpful to have a way in the intake process to assign youth to different programs in the facility in order to sort data along those lines as well.  For instance, our residential treatment program is distinct from our detention program.  Having an easy way to input that distinction and subsequently sort by it for things like # of admissions, releases, average length of stay, etc. would help in our reporting requirements for the two different programs.  Currently, the only way I can identify treatment youth is by their assigned room number.  I haven't discovered a way to apply a filter using room # that allows for a range of rooms to be grouped.

I have a question and comment.

1. From your post, it sounds like you know which program they are in by their Room#. Is that correct? If that is the case, it sounds like we could add another field to track the service, or we could look at some BizStream Connect options.

2. Ottawa County has been hard at work with BizStream to create a Placements/Services/Programs feature that will allow you to see a "timeline of events" for a client (or like you said, an aggregate across the entire organization). The time line will be pretty much all of the "IN and OUT" dates for every program, service, treatment, placement or anything else we can think of. Then, like you said, you could run a report to find maxs, mins, counts and averages per client, per year, per month, per "Service Type" or anything else we are tracking. This feature is schedule for Live Release at the end of October 2009.

This would be a great place to list all of the services that Washtenaw (or anyone else) would like to track.

Things we are thinking about right now are:
Tether, Detention, Residential, any Service/Program.

In the future, you could even pull a gantt chart of a client. Maybe something like this (click each example to see what I am talking about):

Thanks Mark.  It sounds like what you're working on for the October release would meet our needs as well.  Because our court doesn't use the system at this time, we would likely track only two distinct services -- Detention and Residential, as you mentioned.  Although in our case the same people are responsible for both services in the building, the Bizstream Connect strategy may address the need as long as we could still run facility-wide aggregate data combining the programs as well as keeping the data separate.

In the facility that I've been for several months, each of them has its tags with designated color. Similar with the hospital one and rooms are for 2-3 person capacity with the same color tags. They actually had folders each to asset our progress and status of our treatment based on the therapist assessment depending on their problems.
